Correlation between Intraartum Cardiotocographic Patterns and Gas Values of Cord Arterial Blood

Abstract
An intrapartum fetal condition is assessed as a major priority to all obstetrics. The cardiotocogram and fetal cord blood gas analysis have been widely used as a means of evaluating fetal condition, but they sometimes show a weak correlation.
This study was performed in an attempt to derive improved information from cardiotocogram. We studied 64 cases with normal pregnancy, analyzing quantitatively the change in the oscillation cycle and the amplitude of fetal heart rate by measuring
cord
blood gas analysis.
@ES The results were as follows ;
@EN 1. For the distribution rates of the oscillation cycles and amplitudes, the oscillation cycles and amplitudes, the group below 7.20 pH showed the highest value, 30.1% on 2-6 cycle per minute and abve 25 beat per minute. The group between
7.20-7.40
pH showed the highest value, 34.3% on 2-6 cpm and 10-25 bpm. The group between 7.25-7.40 pH showed the highest value, 38.3% on 2-6 cpm and 10-25 bpm
2. For the incidence rates of the oscillation cycle below 2 cpm, the group below 7.20 pH was 28.00 both groups(P<0.05).
3. For the incidence rate of the oscillation cycle between 2-6 cpm, the group below 7.20 pH was 15.59%. There were the statistical differences between below 7.20 and the others(P<0.01).
4. For the incidence rate of the oscillation amplitude between 5-10 bpm, the group with below 7.20 pH was 7.33¡¾6.78%, 7.20-7.25 pH was 19.00¡¾11.21 and between 7.25-7.40 pH was 18.67¡¾12.72%. There were the statistical differences between below
7.20
and the others(P<0.01).
5. For the incidence rate of the oscillation amplitude between 10-25 bpm. the group below 7.20 pH was 19.67 17.57%, between 7.20-7.25 pH was 42.67¡¾14.38%, and between 7.25-7.40 pH was 54.17¡¾13.07%. There were the statistical differences
between
below
7.20 and the others(P<0.05).
6. For the incidence rate of the oscillation amplitude above 25 bpm, the group below 7.20 pH was58.33 26.37%, between 7.20-7.25 ph was 29.33¡¾22.03%, and between 7.25-7.40 pH was 23.67¡¾15.02%. There were the statistical differences between
below
7.20
ph and the other(P<0.05).
We concluded that the quantitative analysis of electronic fetal cardiotocography was one of the useful means in predicting fretal distress.
